Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE)
In men whose testicles produce only a small amount of sperm, or if there is a blockage to the release of sperm (i.e. vasectomy), testicular sperm extraction (TESE) is a treatment option. In this minor surgical procedure, performed by one of our urological colleagues under local anesthesia, sperm is retrieved directly from the testicular tissue. Sperm can then be frozen for the future, or used immediately in conjunction with ICSI to fertilize the eggs. TESE is a safe procedure which has helped many men become fathers even after being told that it was impossible. If you have any questions about TESE or anything else, please contact us, one of our physicians will be happy to speak with you.
