Fertility Treatments
As the average of women giving birth increases approximately one in four couples will experience some type of fertility issues.
Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system that impairs the body’s ability to perform the basic function of reproduction.
Most authorities define infertility as having been unable to become pregnant after one year of unprotected intercourse.
Approximately 10 percent of couples are affected by infertility.
While there may be multiple reasons a couple is infertile, about 40 percent have male factor infertility. In 30 percent of cases pathology is found in the man alone.
Medical advances, however, have brought about choices that greatly improve the chances of conceiving ones own biological offspring.
The diagnosis and treatment of infertility is a complex and emotional process. Factors such as medical history and behavioral and environmental health risks play a role in the reproductive health of men and women.
It is important for people having trouble getting pregnant to seek treatment from a doctor with the appropriate training and expertise whose communication style is comfortable.
Like many disorders, infertility can be a web of questions. Having a trusting comfortable relationship with your specialist is important.
