Assisted Hatching
Assisted hatching involves creating a small “window” in the wall surrounding the embryo. This process allows the embryo to “hatch” or “exit” the Zona Pellucida and implant in the uterine lining. The gap in the wall can be made using either chemical (acid), mechanical or laser methods.
At our program we use all of the above methods. Candidates for assisted hatching include women 36 years of age or older and women of all ages undergoing frozen embryo transfer.
